Image File Size – Best Practices

It’s important to ensure any images you upload to your website are saved with as small a file size as possible – ideally under 100KB. Large image file sizes can have a negative impact, in that they take longer to load, slowing down the overall load time of your website and negatively impacting your SEO.

Our recommended tool for optimising images and reducing their file size is Image Compressor.

Full Width Banner

This refers to images set as a banner style that stretches right across the full width of a page. For example, the hero banner on the home page is a full width banner (see below).

Recommended Image Size: 1920px width and 1280px height.

A smaller height can work too if you plan to have your text underneath the banner or more centred in the banner.
